WI Football Action: Bucky Plays Pacific, Packers Tackle Border Battle

Wisconsin opens Big Ten play today on the Pacific coast as the Badgers take on first-year conference member Southern Cal.

Today’s contest is only the eighth meeting all-time between the two teams and the first since the Badgers beat the Trojans 23-21 in the 2015 Holiday Bowl.  The bowl victory was the Badgers’ only win over the Trojans.  Today’s game also marks the two teams’ first regular season meeting and first in Los Angeles in nearly six decades when Wisconsin fell to Southern Cal 38-to-three on September 24th, 1966.  Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. and the game airs live on CBS.

“Wash, rinse, repeat” might be the best way to describe Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s status for Sunday’s game.

For the third week in a row, Love is listed as “questionable” on Friday’s status report.  Coach Matt LaFleur didn’t give any indication if Love would be available for Sunday’s game at Lambeau against the unbeaten Minnesota Vikings.  Malik Willis has guided the Packers to wins over the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans while Love has been out with a sprained MCL he suffered in the final seconds of Green Bay’s season opener.  Sunday’s game kicks off at noon.
