At 4:54 PM on Wednesday September 18, 2024 a crash occurred on US 53 NB at Hwy 53 at Cty Hwy H in Washburn County.
The crash involved 6 injuries and took place neat Spooner.
Initial investigation shows that a personal injury crash involving three vehicles occurred on Hwy 53 at the intersection with Hwy H near Spooner, WI on September 18th at approximately 4:54pm. A red Chevy Cruz traveling west on Hwy H failed to yield from a stop sign and was struck by a northbound Ford Transit van pulling an RV trailer. A third vehicle in the southbound lane of Hwy 53 waiting to turn left onto Hwy H was also struck during the crash.
At the time of the crash the southbound lanes of Hwy 53 were under construction. Vehicle traffic was bi directional in the northbound lanes. The driver and front passenger of the Chevy Cruz were transported by helicopter from Spooner Health to North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis. The third occupant of unit 1 was self-transported to Spooner Health. The occupants of Units 2 and 3 were transported by ambulance to Spooner Health. All occupants suffered non-life threatening injuries. All vehicles were removed from the scene by American Towing.
