Multiple Injuries at Local Orchard

At least three people were seriously injured and remain in the hospital after a wagon flipped during a school field trip to the apple orchard in Chippewa Falls.

The cart at the Bushel and a Peck Apple Orchard fell on to its side yesterday morning.  Dozens of kids from  St. Mark Lutheran School in Eau Claire were at the orchard at the time for a field trip. Sheriff Travis Hakes shared that the tractor that was pulling the cart over-corrected and spilled the kids and adults out on to the gravel road. The sheriff says three people were rushed to the hospital with life threatening injuries, five more were seriously hurt, and nine others were taken to the hospital in ambulances.
