1600 Penslyvania Avenue will be in the Dairyland today.
President Biden visits the Westby area and the White House confirmed that the president will be making a campaign stop in Westby, near La Crosse on Thursday. It is Biden’s first Wisconsin visit since he dropped out of the race about a month ago. The White House says the president will speak about prescription drug costs, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing.
Continuing on the political stage, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is suing to get off the Wisconsin ballot.
Kennedy’s campaign yesterday filed a lawsuit in Dane County court. Wisconsin law doesn’t allow for candidates to remove themselves from the ballot once they are certified, and that happened last week. But Kennedy’s lawyers say the same election laws give Republicans and Democrats more time to drop-off the ballot. RFK Jr.’s lawsuit asks for the same amount of time. It may be too late, however. The Wisconsin Elections Commission certified the November ballot last week, and some local clerks are already printing theirs.
As we get closer to marking up those ballots, we’re going to get the latest snapshot of the race for the White House here in Wisconsin later today. A new Marquette Law School Poll will drop this afternoon. The poll will have the latest numbers on the race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. The last poll, from last month, showed a tied race. Trump had a one-point lead with registered voters, while Harris had a one-point lead with likely voters. Wisconsin is, of course, one of the key swing states in this November’s election.
