On Thursday, August 22, 2024, the Avenues of Possibilities Tour continued its statewide road trip to Eau Claire, where it engaged with community members to explore their ideas for improving the city, focusing on the important role road infrastructure plays in bringing those ideas to life. The theme, “all roads lead to roads,” centers the discussion on how road infrastructure affects everything from economic development to safety.
The Tour wrapped up its visit in Wausau the night before by bringing in a welcome from Wausau Mayor Doug Diny. Panel discussions included key leaders from various backgrounds such as the Chamber of Commerce, small business owners, business development, infrastructure and transportation.
“Communities live by the traffic that flows through them,” says Community Development Director of the City of Eau Claire Aaron White. “We see the larger population of people who aren’t from the community utilize the amenities and resources that the city offers, so being able to move those people through the community efficiently is very important.”
Once the panel is concluded, an open discussion takes place where attendees speak to the panelists about what key issues they would like to be addressed among their communities. Prominent issues include improved sidewalks, expanded inclusion of minority groups and business owners, improved grocery options and affordable housing direction.
To conclude the night, an interactive workshop is set up for attendees to write their ideas for city improvements. The ideas are then gathered and stored where the Tour will review recurring issues that took place in each location and send community resources relating to the input.
The tour will wrap up its road show in Green Bay, and Kenosha in September. To learn more about the tour, visit WITH AN EASY CLICK HERE.
