The National Weather Service is issuing heat alerts today and Monday for parts of Northwest and West Central Wisconsin.
A Heat Advisory is in effect today for Burnett County and an Excessive Heat Watch is in effect Monday for Burnett County, as well as Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas, Price, Sawyer, and Washburn Counties. A Heat Advisory means the heat index could reach at least 100 degrees. An Excessive Heat Watch means the heat index could reach at least 105 degrees, which is forecast for Monday.
The National Weather Service advises those affected by the heat alerts to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms and stay out of the sun. Do not leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles.
