WI Sports Recap: Packers Preseason Kicks Off, Brewers Go Five in a Row

Packers quarterback Jordan Love may finish the preseason with a perfect passer rating.

Love threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to Dontayvion Wicks on the third play of the game and Green Bay cruised to a 23-10 win at Cleveland on Saturday. Head coach Matt LaFleur said after the game he does not plan on playing Love or other starters next Sunday at Denver. He did say that starters would see reps during a joint practice with the Broncos. LaFleur did not indicate if Love will see any action in the Packers’ preseason finale at home against the Baltimore Ravens.

Meanwhile, from the field to the diamond…

Two hits are apparently enough for the Brew Crew to extend their winning streak to five in a row.

Rhys Hoskins’ two-out home run in the bottom of the eighth — only Milwaukee’s second hit of the game — broke a scoreless tie and the Brewers defeated the Cincinnati Reds one-nothing on Saturday. Starter Tobias Myers allowed only three hits in seven-plus scoreless innings and Joel Payamps picked up the win in relief. The three-game series concludes today with a 1:10 p.m. start time at American Field. On Monday, the Brewers open a four-game series at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a battle of division leaders.
