E pluribus unum is Latin for “Out of many, one” and it is a traditional motto of the United States. With many eyes on Eau Claire today and many different beliefs converging on the campaign trail heading towards November, that message rings loudly.
On that note, both presidential campaigns come to town today on the heels of the announcement that Governor Tim Walz is Kamala Harris’ pick to round out the Democratic Presidential ticket.
On the other side of the ticket, Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance will speak to a Republican gathering this afternoon, while at almost the same time Kamala Harris and her new VP pick will speak to a crowd of Democrats. Both are campaigning, again, in a part of western Wisconsin that could help tip the balance in the state. Wisconsin is considered one of the key swing states in the race for the White House.
A new poll for that race here in the state is due out later today.
When it comes to reaction here in our state, Wisconsin Democrats like Kamala Harris’ pick for vice president, while Republicans in the state say her pick is telling.
Governor Tony Evers and other top Democrats are applauding that Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate. Evers calls it a ‘common sense’ pick, and says Walz knows what’s best for kids, and what’s best for Minnesota.
Showing you different sides so you can decide, Wisconsin Republicans say Harris and Walz make up the most radical ticket ever. Western Wisconsin Congressman Derrick Van Orden said Walz will bring more taxes, more spending, and more inflation to the White House.
