DWD Grant Focuses on Apprenticeship

The Department of Workforce Development announced it has been awarded more than 1-million dollars to expand Wisconsin’s Registered Apprenticeship and Certified Pre-Apprenticeship programs.

The DWD says the grant will increase its ability to boost Wisconsin’s connection to the national apprenticeship system, expanding opportunities and strengthening the workforce while positioning the economy to succeed.  The award is part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula funding  produced by President Biden’s “investing in America” agenda. With the funds the DWD says Wisconsin Apprenticeship will: increase outreach and awareness of apprenticeship opportunities, increase apprenticeship partnerships with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, and improve systems through technology updates.

The DWD say the Registered Apprenticeship is an earn-while-you-learn model connecting apprentices to high-skill, high-wage employment.
