Sawyer Co. Airplane Crash Under Investigation

On July 28, 2024 at 11:59 am, Sawyer County deputies with assistance from Sawyer  County EMS, Exeland and Radisson Fire Departments responded to the scene of an  airplane crash near the intersection of Weirgor Road and Brisko Road in the Town of  Radisson. 

Upon arrival, deputies learned that a single engine Piper Malibu operated by Matthew J.  Pobloske, 58, of Tucson Arizona was traveling to the Hayward area when the plane  suddenly experienced engine trouble and total loss of power. With no airports in the  immediate vicinity, Pobloske was forced to make an emergency landing in a farm field just  east of Weirgor Rd.  

The pilot was the lone occupant in the aircraft and was able to walk away without injury.  The plane sustained extensive damage as a result of the crash. 

The crash is currently being investigated by the FAA.
