Sandhill Crane Study Committee Hits Nature Tour

The group looking for solutions to Wisconsin’s sandhill crane population is heading into the wild this week.

The Legislative Study Committee on Sandhill Cranes will tour the Horicon Marsh on Thursday. The group is trying to come-up with recommendations about what to do with the birds. Farmers and some homeowners complain that the birds are a nuisance, but environmentalists don’t want to see Wisconsin add a hunting season. The tour is one of the group’s first acts. They’re not expected to have anything for lawmakers to consider until after the new year.
