President Biden Drops Out, VP Harris Set to Visit WI

The Democrats who are running for Congress in western Wisconsin have nothing but praise for President Biden after he announced yesterday that he will not be running for re-election any longer.

Eric Wilson said this is now an opportunity for Democrats to focus on beating former President Trump come November. State Rep. Katrina Shankland called Biden’s decision “deeply patriotic,” and said voters should thank President Biden for a lot of things. Rebecca Cooke  said while she is grateful for the president’s decades of service, she said she’s more focused on the race in western Wisconsin.

Other Democrats weren’t. Madison State Senator Kelda Roys said she thinks the current VP would be able to draw a sharp contract with former President Trump. Roys, and almost every other Democrat in Wisconsin, said that’s the focus this fall. Beating Donald Trump.

On the heels of the announcement, Vice President Kamala Harris is set to campaign in Milwaukee tomorrow, this time as a candidate for president.

Harris had a trip to Wisconsin planned long before President Biden said yesterday that he is not running again. Harris’ office has not officially said if yesterday’s announcement changes anything about tomorrow’s visit, but a campaign aide told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that there are no changes planned as of yet.  The latest Marquette Law School poll showed the race between President Biden and former President Trump was tied, but several polls since then showed Trump with a growing lead.
