There’s a new men’s champion and a new women’s record in the July 4th hot dog eating contest in Coney Island. Patrick Bertoletti has secured the mustard belt, scarfing down 58 dogs and buns in ten minutes.
The 39-year-old Illinois native likely wouldn’t have had a chance if 16-time champ Joey Chestnut, with a record of 76 dogs, hadn’t bowed out this year over his deal with a vegan brand. Meanwhile, a familiar name won the women’s side. Mike Sudo beat her own record after wolfing down 51 dogs. She’s now a ten-time champ.
