DNR Warns: Don’t Steal Cicadas

Don’t take cicadas home with you.

That’s the word from Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources. The DNR yesterday said they’ve gotten a couple of reports of people harvesting cicadas from Big Foot Beach State Park in Walworth County. Conservation police say it’s against the law to remove bugs from state parks. It’s also a bad idea. Moving the cicadas could help spread them throughout Wisconsin.

The DNR says it wants to remind people that it is illegal to harvest bugs, but said if it continues, they will issue tickets.
