Wisconsin’s governor is telling the state’s university leaders that he wants nearly a billion-dollars more for the UW next year.
Governor Tony Evers told UW regents last week that he plans to ask lawmakers for 800-million dollars more for the university. That’d be 400-million in each year of the state’s two-year budget. Evers says the University of Wisconsin is at a “critical junction,” and needs significant investments to prevent “further degradation.” The governor’s request comes after lawmakers agreed earlier this spring to a deal that gave the UW 700-million dollars for new buildings and other projects.
