There won’t be a showdown on the UW Board of Regents. Bob Atwell, former Governor Scott Walker’s last appointee, yesterday resigned from the board.
His term ended last month, and initially he said he wasn’t going to step down. That set up a showdown between Governor Evers and the state law that says appointees can stay in their jobs until their replacement is approved by the Wisconsin Senate. Atwell is not saying why he changed his mind, but did say that the new regent who Governor Evers appointed on Friday should serve the university well.
