Summer Veterans Fishing Series Makes Splash with YMCA

“Engaging with our veterans through this fishing series is a way for us to give back to those who have given so much,”

The Chippewa Falls YMCA announced the launch of a new Summer Veterans Fishing Series, a program designed to honor and engage veterans from the Chippewa Falls Veterans’ Home. In partnership with local veterans, the YMCA is inviting community members to volunteer for this series of fishing events set to take place at Erickson Park this summer.

The fishing series, which aligns perfectly with the YMCA’s commitment to fostering community and encouraging volunteerism, is scheduled on the following dates:

June 13 & 27

July 11 & 25

August 8 & 22

Each event will run from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a fish fry being held at noon, where volunteers and veterans can enjoy the fish they have caught during the event.

The YMCA is reaching out to all who have a passion for supporting our nation’s heroes and who enjoy the great outdoors. Whether you are a seasoned angler or simply possess a heart for service, your skills and companionship can make a significant impact.

“Engaging with our veterans through this fishing series is a way for us to give back to those who have given so much,” said Kara Goossens, a key organizer for the event. “We are not just fishing together; we are weaving bonds of friendship and creating joyous memories that honor our veterans’ service.”

Volunteers are needed to assist with various tasks, including helping with casting and baiting lines, sharing stories, and partaking in laughter. Additionally, cooking volunteers are sought to help prepare the fish fry from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO AND TO REEL IN THE DETAILS.
