Since 2001, Empty Bowls has brought together locally crafted bowls, food, community members, and a determination to take a bite out of local hunger. Every ticket purchase goes towards supporting the work of Feed My People Food Bank (FMP), whose mission is creating equitable access to food for healthier communities in West Central Wisconsin.
“One bowl may not seem like a lot, but when they’re all stacked together, the impact is huge,” shared Susie Haugley, communications manager at FMP. Last year, the event raised enough funds for well over
200,000 meals.
Empty Bowls is bringing back its festival flair through an indoor and outdoor event on May 16 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Outside features include six different food trucks, outdoor games, and live acoustic music.
Each food truck will have a signature dish that can be redeemed with an Empty Bowls food ticket.
Inside the food bank, local artists and students have donated hundreds of beautiful, handcrafted bowls.
Ticket holders may browse and pick out a ceramic or wooden creation to take home as a reminder of
the impact their donation is making in the community.
Additionally, a silent auction, including experience packages, local artwork, bowl sets, and more, will be
available online and at the event. Online bidding closes at noon on May 17. Tours of the food bank are
also available to learn more.
