The chancellor at UW-Milwaukee is giving protesters there another chance to take down their tents.
Chancellor Mark Mone yesterday issued a statement to students, faculty, and staffers on campus. Mone said he recognizes the importance of the right to protest, and supports the idea of protests on campus. But Mone said UW-M cannot allow the illegal encampments to continue. He warned protesters that “if the encampment doesn’t end soon, UWM will have to take action to ensure that it does.” Mone also said some of the protesters’ demands, like a full divestment and the elimination of campus police ” are legally impossible for UWM to meet.”
Protesters have been camped out on the Milwaukee campus since last Monday.
