The memorial to remember the people killed in the attack on Waukesha’s Christmas Parade is a big step closer to reality.
City leaders broke ground on the memorial yesterday. The hope is to finish construction this fall. There’s a dedication ceremony planned for November 21st to mark the third anniversary of the attack. Six people died and more than 60 others were injured when Darrell Brooks drove an SUV through the parade back in 2021. Brooks is serving six life sentences for the attack. Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly yesterday said the memorial will both be a place for people to remember and heal, and a sign of just how strong and resilient Waukesha is as a community.
