Clothing and Hygiene Drive Hopes to Fill Need, Support Students

The Eau Claire Downtown YMCA, in partnership with the Eau Claire Area School District, has announced an initiative to gather donations of clothing and hygiene items for students in need.

“By collecting these essential items, we are not only supporting their health and hygiene but also bolstering their confidence and dignity.

The Eau Claire Downtown YMCA is calling on the generosity of community members to contribute to the Eau Claire Area School District Closet and the Eau Claire Area School District Homeless Program. These resources play a vital role in providing support to students facing homelessness, helping them to focus on their education without the concern of unmet basic needs.

Until May 17, donations of new clothing and hygiene products can be delivered to the Entrance D of the Eau Claire Downtown YMCA at 700 Graham Avenue. The items most urgently needed include:

Clothing: New socks and underwear for all sizes, ranging from Youth Small to Adult XL.
Hygiene Items: Hair brushes, shampoo, conditioner, washcloths, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, deodorant, disposable razors, shaving cream, lip balm, Band-Aids, pocket tissues, hair ties, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and textured hair care items.

“We recognize the profound impact that meeting basic needs can have on a student’s ability to learn and thrive,” said Craig Monson, Executive Director of the Eau Claire Downtown YMCA. “By collecting these essential items, we are not only supporting their health and hygiene but also bolstering their confidence and dignity. We are deeply committed to nurturing the potential of every child, not only at the Y, but in our community. We believe our community will rise to the occasion to support this important cause.”
