The WIAA, the group that manages high school sports in Wisconsin, yesterday rejected a name, image, and likeness proposal. WIAA officials say NIL is coming to high school sports, and suggested the proposal as a way to stay ahead of any new laws or lawsuits. But local athletic directors say the proposed rules didn’t work, and said there were just too many unanswered questions. But both the WIAA and local school leaders expect NIL to come back in the future.
