Planting Early, Waiting on Precipitation

Wisconsin farmers are planting early this year because of record warm weather, but they need rain. 

The U.S. Department of Agriculture expects farm income to be 25-percent lower this year than last.  In part because costs are up and partly because of drought conditions in several Midwest growing states.  December was the warmest on record for Wisconsin, but the continuing drought conditions has farmers concerned about the dry soil.
