Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources cannot go after PFAS polluters until Wisconsin lawmakers set PFAS standards.
An appeal court yesterday ruled that Governor Evers’ administration must work with lawmakers to define so-called forever chemical pollution before the DNR can enforce the rules. The ruling is a win for businesses in the state, and lawmakers themselves because they have a different view of the state’s PFAS needs. Wisconsin’s attorney general has already promised to take the case to the new liberal-majority supreme court. AG Josh Kaul said working with lawmakers will force the state to wait to enforce new clean drinking water rules.
