Daniel David Oconnell, 34 years of age, from Freeport, IL has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with five
children in the vehicle under the age of 16.
On Thursday, February 29, 2024, at approximately 3:20 PM a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle on I-94 westbound at mile marker 55 after observing the driver not wearing his seat belt and speeding.
The Trooper observed signs of impairment and a subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety tests, showed that the driver, Daniel David Oconnell from Freeport, IL, was operating the motor vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance 1st offense with minor passengers. Mr. Oconnell was arrested and transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary test of his blood. The children, twin nine-month-olds, a 14-year-old, and two 15-year-olds, were released to an adult family member.
