A bill proposed in Congress would change procedures around the treatment of incarcerated pregnant people. An estimated 58-thousand people are incarcerated every year. The use of physical restraints are common despite having proven health risks according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. A bill being proposed would change that along with giving access to STI treatment, postpartum depression screenings and services, and other critical care.
