UW-Madison is looking to hire hundreds of new faculty members to drive new research at the school.
Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin told university regents yesterday that the first round of hiring will be focused on AI. Mnookin says the Madison campus is looking for ‘Audacious, interdisciplinary inquiry leading to groundbreaking discovery.’ The UW says it is looking to hire as many as 150 new faculty members over the next three to five years. That is in addition to the dozens of new faculty members the school already hires. There’s no price tag for the larger hiring initiative, but UW-Madison officials say the first round of AI faculty hiring is expected to cost 30 million-dollars.
