Speak Up, Speak Out Hits 10K Mark

Speak Up, Speak Out Hits 10K Mark

The ten-thousandth tip has been received at the Speak Up, Speak Out tip-line.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice Office of School Safety says the line is a free threat-reporting service giving students a way to speak with an adult confidentially any time of day, all year round. The agency says it got its ten thousandth call since the tip-line was launched September of 2020 on Friday. Of the tips, almost 200 were concerns about planned school attacks, over 200 were reports of guns and other weapons, and more than 350 were concerned threats of suicide. Once a tip is called in, law enforcement and school officials can respond immediately if necessary.
