Wisconsin Republicans are not backing away from Governor Evers’ promised veto of their 14-week abortion ban.
The State Assembly held a hearing on the plan yesterday. Republicans want to let voters weigh-in on what the state’ abortion law should be. Democrats yesterday picked at the specifics of the proposal, and said it would limit choices for women. Many pro-life advocates and lawmakers said Wisconsin should go back to its pre-Roe abortion law that banned almost every abortion in the state. If lawmakers approve the 14-week ban, it then goes to the governor before it would go to the voters.
Governor Evers, however, has already promised to veto the plan as soon as it reaches his desk.
