A fire on Peebles Street is under investigation. The call came on on Sunday January 14th, and the report from ECFD indicates:
Engine 10 arrived to smoke showing from several areas of the residence on a bitterly cold day with temperatures near 0* F and a wind chill advisory in effect.
Fire crews immediately made entry into the structure to attack the fire and search for any victims. Crews then entered into the basement via an interior stairway and found thick smoke conditions resulting in no visibility. Fire was extinguished as additional crews completed a search of the 1st and 2nd floors and performed ventilation to clear the smoke. It was later discovered that two adult occupants and two dogs evacuated prior to ECFD’s arrival. One occupant received burns to the stomach, chest, and hands and was evaluated by ECFD personnel.
Fire extension to the 1st floor was discovered and extinguished. Smoke damage was also sustained on the 1st floor. The Red Cross was contacted to assist with temporary relocation and provide assistance.
