It will be a very busy couple of weeks at the Wisconsin Capitol after the holidays.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Friday tossed out the state’s political map, and ordered a new one drawn. The order means the legislature will have to draw a new map for the state’s Senate and Assembly districts by January 12th. After that, the court will review it, and will likely reject it. The court’s liberal majority said the old map was too gerrymandered. Republican leaders at the Capitol say the decision is a power-grab, and not any kind of attempt to redraw a fair map.
