The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a structure fire this afternoon on the West side of Eau Claire.
Engine 9 arrived to find fire showing from the rear of the structure and smoke throughout the residence.
Crews initiated an interior attack on the fire, performed a primary search for occupants, and ventilated the structure. No occupants were found and it was later learned that the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Crews located fire in the basement and found fire extension to the upper levels that required exposing walls and ceiling to extinguish.
One firefighter sustained a minor injury that did not require immediate medical attention.
