A Crawford County pharmacist is spending months behind bars for purchasing monkey torture videos online.
Federal prosecutors say 40-year-old Kenneth Herrera was sentenced to a year and one day in prison yesterday for violating the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act. Investigators say Herrera directed an Indonesian man to harm macaque monkeys in specific ways and paid one-hundred dollars each for videos of the abuse.
Judge William Conley described the videos as “abhorrent” while informing Herrera of his sentence.
