Despite a weekend in Milwaukee that saw two people killed and eleven people injured, actual homicide rates have fallen significantly.
Milwaukee Police report the city’s murder rate has dropped 23 percent this year compared with last year. They say non-fatal shootings have also decreased. Mayor Cavalier Johnson says the city has a surplus budget which has enabled them to spend more money on resources such as cracking down on crime. Mayor Johnson says enrollment at the city’s police academy is full, which means more officers are being trained to serve and protect the city.
