Starting next fall, the University of Wisconsin-Madison will cover attendance costs fully for members of American Indian tribes.
The university says it has been working with the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council to develop the Wisconsin Tribal Education Promise Program. A student must be a Wisconsin resident and a member of any federally recognized Tribe to qualify for the funding. Graduate students pursuing law or medicine degrees will also qualify. According to University data, 134 out of about five-thousand six-hundred UW-Madison students are American Indian.
