El Nino Affects WI Winter

This year’s winter El Nino will be the most severe since 2015 in Southern Wisconsin.

National Weather Service Milwaukee Meteorologist Cameron Miller says an El Nino of similar strength comes around southern Wisconsin about once every decade. Before 2015, comparable El Ninos have made appearances in 1997 and 1982. Miller says temperatures may dip next Monday and Tuesday, but temperatures for the rest of next week could be up to ten degrees higher than usual.

The Climate Prediction Center says on a national scale the El Nino could be the strongest in 70 years.
