Wisconsin and Minnesota governors are asking for more than one-million dollars to replace the John A. Blatnik Bridge.
The bridge has run between Superior, WI and Duluth, MN for 60 years. Governors Tony Evers and Tim Walz say they’re asking for the money from the US Department of Transportation’s Bridge Investment Program to fix the bridge, which they say is deteriorating. In a press release, they say the bridge is critical to connect the states’ communities, opportunities, and economies. This is the second federal grant sought by the states together to replace the bridge.
