Crews were on scene of a fire Wednesday. It was on November 29th, when the Rice Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a reported barn fire at 2776 23rd Street in the Township of Oak Grove.
The first fire department unit arrived to find a two story barn, fully involved in fire with complete roof collapse. Crews worked to control and contain the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. An initial damage estimate for the structure and contents is placed at $225,000. The barn was in use housing livestock along with hay and feed storage. 1-horse, 1- cow, approx. 150 goats and some chickens perished in the fire. 2 horses and 3 hogs were able to escape the fire. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.
