New Award for Recycling Efforts

Eau Claire County was recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources on America Recycle’s Day (November 15th) with a 2023 Recycling Excellence Award for the “Overall Program” category. This category “recognizes programs that are robust and constantly improving, demonstrating a commitment to advance the overall recycling/ diversion program.”

The County’s recycling program prides itself on the collaborations with private partners and community organizations that allow our program to provide a specialty recycling program that goes beyond traditional recycling. These programs include: free/reduced hazardous waste disposal events, free electronics recycling year-round, mattress recycling events, compost bin sales, and education and outreach to the community about recycling, composting, and overall waste reduction.
