Republicans at the Wisconsin Capitol are pushing to end race-based aid programs at the University of Wisconsin.
The State Assembly voted yesterday to move to a need-based system for aid instead. State Representative Nik Rettinger says it’s morally wrong to base financial aid on skin color. Rettinger says a recent Supreme Court decision struck down race based programs at colleges and universities. But the UW says that decision applied to admissions, not financial aid programs.
