On Sunday, November 5th , Eau Claire County Deputies were advised of a suspect vehicle description that was related to numerous vehicle break in’s around the Eau Claire and Altoona areas. The vehicle
was also observed to have a stolen license plate.
During the afternoon hours of the same date, deputies were notified of a vehicle pursuit entering into
Eau Claire County from Chippewa County. The involved vehicle matched the description of the suspect
vehicle from the vehicle break ins. The original pursuit was terminated and Eau Claire County Deputies
began checking the area for the suspect vehicle.
While checking the area, deputies eventually observed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle
description and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle fled from deputies and a
vehicle pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, tire deflation devices were utilized in an attempt to
disable the suspect vehicle and bring the pursuit to a safe ending. After tire deflation devices had been
used, the suspect vehicle began traveling the wrong way on Interstate 94 in Jackson County. Due to the
increasing danger to the public, a force to stop technique was used on the vehicle and the two occupants
of the vehicle were arrested without further incident. No injuries were reported by anyone involved in
the incident.
An 18 year old male and a 17 year old juvenile were arrested and transported to the Eau Claire County
Jail. The 18 year old has been referred to the District Attorney’s office for charges of 1st degree
recklessly endangering safety and knowingly flee an officer. He also had extraditable warrants from the
State of Florida. The passenger in the vehicle was arrested for an extraditable out of State warrant. The
investigation into the other incidents is currently ongoing.
