Lawmakers at the Wisconsin Capital are looking to get tougher on people who drive without a driver’s license in the state.
An Assembly committee will hear a proposal today that would increase the penalties for anyone who’s driving while suspended or driving while revoked. The legislation would make driving while without a license a misdemeanor, but would make it a felony for anyone who drives without a license and gets into a crash that hurts someone. Lawmakers say they are responding to the uptick in the number of reckless driving cases across the state, but more specifically in Milwaukee.
