Democrats at the Wisconsin Capitol aren’t interested in the new child care plan from Republican lawmakers.
A Republican plan to roll-back some regulations, and help day care providers add more capacity is in the works in Madison. Democrats, however, want more money, not fewer regulations. The top Democrat in the Wisconsin Senate, Melissa Agard, said the Republican plan could actually leave kids in danger. Governor Evers, of course, wants 350-million dollars added to the state budget to cover the loss of federal day care money that expired with the end of the coronavirus emergency.
He’s called a special session for next month to try and get a vote on that money.
