Wisconsin’s governor has vetoed a handful of plans that would have limited unemployment benefits in order to get people back to work.
Governor Tony Evers on Friday vetoed five pieces of legislation that would have required people on unemployment to go on job interviews, look for more work, and pass more drug tests. The Republican lawmakers who approved the legislation said the idea was to get people off of the sidelines, and back into the workforce. The governor says he vetoed the plans because he didn’t want to create ‘additional barriers’ to people who are receiving unemployment in the state.
