As expected, Milwaukee County is raising its sales tax.
County supervisors yesterday overwhelmingly voted to raise the county’s sales tax by point-four percent. That will nearly double Milwaukee County’s sales tax to just under one-percent. The county got the green light to raise the tax under the new shared revenue proposal from state lawmakers. County Executive David Crowley celebrated the tax hike, saying it will allow the county to continue to pay for parks, seniors services, and buses.
