Calling all Kubb heads! The 16th U.S. National Kubb Championship to be Held in Eau Claire this Weekend.
The event will run July 14-16th, at the Eau Claire Soccer Park. This year’s event boasts teams and players from over 22 different states, and teams from Germany and Sweden.
“This year, the U.S. National Kubb Championship will again be one of the largest three Kubb tournaments in the world,” said event director Eric Anderson. “Registration filled up in only three weeks, and we have a full weekend of activities lined up, including the 10th year of Kid Kubb on Friday. Players are coming from coast to coast and two European countries. The local growth of the game has exploded even more in the past couple of years with the growth of the weekly Eau Claire Kubb League. Just like every year, we have a great mix of world-class players, beginners, and all skills between.”
For those who have never heard of Kubb or played the game, it is best described as “Viking Chess” and requires skill, aim, and strategy. You can find a quick review of the game and rules at https://www.usakubb.org/rules. The event is free to spectators, with the games being held at Eau Claire Soccer Park on the corner of Hamilton Ave. and Craig Rd.
