It’s now up to Governor Evers. Republicans in the State Assembly last night approved the state’s new two-year budget.
The spending plan comes with a 99 billion-dollar price tag, and increases spending on everything from roads, to schools, to health care. The budget also contains a four billion-dollar tax cut, though it’s unclear if Governor Evers will keep that tax cut or veto it out of the budget. It’s also unclear just what the governor will do about the budget’s 32 million-dollar cut for diversity, equity, and inclusion projects at the University of Wisconsin.
The governor is supposed to sign the budget by the end of the day today.
