Juneteenth Events Planned Locally

It is Juneteenth across the Union.

It was in 1865, Union Major General Gordon Granger landed in Galveston, Texas with the news that the Civil War had ended and that those who were enslaved were now free.  The news came two and a half years after President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation. 

The date is now known as Juneteenth or Emancipation Day. There are events planned across the country and locally as well to commemorate the day. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.
