Responders were on the scene of a deadly UTV crash in Barron County.
Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Cumberland Police Department, Cumberland Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance, Marshfield Medical Ambulance, 2 Life Link Helicopters, Barron County First Responders and the WI DNR responded to the scene.
Initial investigation shows a UTV was traveling south on the trail and left the trail and struck a tree. Two occupants of the UTV were both extricated from the UTV. The driver, a 53 year old male from Comstock, was flown to Regions Hospital in MN in critical condition. The passenger, a 48 year old female from Comstock, was deceased at the scene.
Speed and Alcohol are believed to be contributing factors. The WI DNR is reconstructing the accident scene and the case remains under investigation by the Barron County Sheriff’s Department and the WI DNR.
