Wisconsin State Patrol Inspectors and Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash with injuries in Douglas County on US Highway 2 near County Highway U.
Preliminary evidence from the crash scene indicates that a Ford Escape and black Chevy Silverado were westbound on Highway 2 approaching a red Chevy Silverado that was eastbound. The eastbound red Chevy Silverado crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the Ford Escape. The red Silverado then spun around and struck the rear of the black Silverado. The Ford Escape came to rest in the roadway
while the other vehicles came to rest in a driveway north of the highway.
The driver of the red Silverado was airlifted to Essentia Health-St. Marys Medical Center in Duluth with critical injuries. The driver and a passenger of the Ford Escape were transported by ambulance with
non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
